About the accessories included
The BR13 is positioned as a HiFi-level product, and most of the targeted users probably have good cables. If we included a consumer-level cable, those HiFi users would be unsatisfied. If we included HiFi-level cables, the cost would be too high. As a result, we decided not to include any other cable but just a standard USB one, and lower the price to make it affordable to consumers.
What should I do if the BR13 does not work normally?
[Restart the BR13]
Replug the USB power cable.
[Clear pairing]
Clear pairing record and reconnect if the BR13 does not work normally in Bluetooth input mode.
Hold the "EQ" button for about 3s to clear all Bluetooth pairing records.
[Reset the BR13]
Factory data reset: When the device is off, hold the "play" button for about 10s to achieve factory data reset.
Button operation instruction of FIIO BR13

Turn on: Connect to USB, and hold the button A ⏯️ for about 3s to turn on;
Turn off: When the device is on, hold the button A⏯️ for about 3s until the display goes off to turn off;
Play/Pause: Short press the button A⏯️ to play/pause music;
Volume+: Short press the “+” button to increase the volume for 1 level ;
Volume-: Short press the “-” button to decrease the volume for 1 level;
Quickly increase volume: Hold the “+” button;
Quickly decrease volume: Hold the “-” button;
Audio input switch: Short press the “IN” button to switch inputs in a sequence of “Bluetooth input” - “USB input” - “Optical input” - Coaxial input”;
EQ switch: Short press the “EQ” button to quickly switch equalizers in a sequence of JAZZ-POP-ROCK-CLAS-MEM1-MEM2-OFF;
Force a pairing: Hold the “IN” button for about 3s to force the device to enter the Bluetooth pairing state;
Clear pairing: Hold the “EQ” button for about 3s to clear all Bluetooth pairing records;
Factory data reset: When the device is off, hold the button A⏯️ for about 10s to achieve factory data reset;
How to control the BR13 in the FiiO Control App?
Please install the latest FiiO Control App first. (Click the link to get the latest Android version: https://forum.fiio.com/note/showNoteContent.do?id=202105071628040377809&tid=17
After connecting the BR13 to the mobile phone via Bluetooth, enter My devices->Tap the BR13 to complete the connection. After a successful connection, it will enter the Bluetooth control menu.
Note:
After saving the setting like digital up-sampling via FiiO Control app in Bluetooth input mode, the setting will be effective in coaxial/optical input mode as well.
EQ is only supported in Bluetooth and USB input mode.
How to use the BR13 as a Bluetooth receiver?

After turning on the BR13, short press the “IN” button to enter "BLUE IN" mode;
Hold the “IN” button for about 3s to force the device to enter the Bluetooth pairing state;
Turn on the Bluetooth function in the mobile phone then search and select the BR13 to get the connection work.

Supported Bluetooth codes: LDAC/aptX Adaptive/aptX/aptX LL/aptX HD/AAC/SBC
You could turn on/off the Bluetooth codecs via FiiO Control APP.
How to use the coaxial/optical input function of BR13?
[Coaxial in]
After turning on the BR13, short press the “IN” button to enter "COAX IN" mode;
Signal input: Connect the coaxial output port of the pre source and the coaxial input port of the BR13 via the coaxial cable;
Signal output: The BR13 supports optical and line out output at that time. Use the RCA audio cable or optical cable to connect the corresponding output port of BR13.
[Optical in]
After turning on the BR13, short press the “IN” button to enter "OPT IN" mode;
Signal input: Connect the optical output port of the pre source and the optical input port of the BR13 via the optical cable;
Signal output: The BR13 supports coaxial, optical and line out output at that time. Use the RCA audio cable,coaxial cable or optical cable to connect the corresponding output port of BR13.
Note:
1.Optical bypass function is supported in "Optical in" mode, which is convenient for the input/output switching in some devices;
2.If there are no output in coaxial or optical output port, please try to turn off the "Digital up-sampling"mode in the FiiO Control app;
3.The FiiO Control app could work for BR13 in Bluetooth input mode. You could switch to Bluetooth input mode for adjusting the setting first and switch back to coaxial/optical input mode.
How to use the BR13 as a DAC for the computer?
The BR13 can be used as a USB DAC for computers which can support up to 96K/24bit sampling rate.(Coaxial ,optical output could be upsampling up to 96kHz/24bit.)
Only USB DAC driver-free mode is supported.
After turning on the BR13, short press the “IN” button to enter "USB IN" mode;
Signal input: Connect the BR13 and the computer via the USB cable, and select the corresponding sound output device in the playback software of the computer;
Signal output: The BR13 supports coaxial, optical and line out output at the same time now. Use the RCA audio cable,coaxial cable or optical cable to connect the corresponding output port of BR13.
Note:
Because of the system reason in Macbook, the output sampling rate will not change automatically according to the music files. Please go to'Midi' setting of the Macbook to adjust the output sampling rate.
How to use the BR13 as a USB DAC for mobile phones?
Since the power supply of some mobile phones may not be enough for driving the BR13, it is not recommended to connect the BR13 to mobile phones via USB. If you do have this need, you can try the following steps for help.
The BR13 can be used as a USB DAC for mobile phones which can support up to 96K/24bit sampling rate.(Coaxial ,optical output could be upsampling up to 96kHz/24bit.)
Only USB DAC driver-free mode is supported.
After turning on the BR13, short press the “IN” button to enter "USB IN" mode;
Signal input: Connect the BR13 and the mobile phones via the TypeC-TypeC(For connecting Android mobile phones)/Type C-lightning(For connecting IOS devices) OTG cable(You would need to buy an extra cable first), play the songs to enjoy Hi-res music.
Signal output: The BR13 supports coaxial, optical and line out output at the same time now. Use the RCA audio cable,coaxial cable or optical cable to connect the corresponding output port of BR13.
Note: The BR13 will consume the phone's power at that time.
If there is no sound after connecting to Android mobile phones, you need to pay attention to the following points:
1. Settings on apps, such as FiiO Music, there is a USB output that needs to be enabled, but some devices will have sound only with the USB output turned off.
2. Please check if the USB debugging is enabled in developer mode
You may need to open "Developer Options" in "Other Advanced Settings", and then enable the "USB Debugging" or "OTG" function
3. After the above settings are completed, you can try to re-plug the data cable, or play the track, play another track to make sure whether it is a hardware or software issue. If your issue remains, please contact our customer service to confirm whether it needs to be returned.
How to update the firmware of BR13?
The BR13 upgrade is completed on FiiO Control. The upgrade steps are as follows(It is recommended to use Android mobile phone for upgrading the firmware):
Download the firmware file to the mobile phone first;
Switch the input mode to BT, connect BR13 to the phone via Bluetooth;
Start the APP and go to the BR13 Status page- Settings-Firmware upgrade-Local upgrade
On the file list, tap the search icon and select the firmware file. Then a prompt dialogue will pop up. Tap CONFIRM to start the upgrade.
11. What are the main differences between BR13 and BTA30Pro?
The BR13 is a professional Bluetooth receiver, which only supports receiving, not transmitting, and is priced at about half of BTA30PRO.
The input/output ports of BR13 are the same as BTA30PRO, with powerful SPDIF input and output, as well as upsampling function.
The BR13 adopts aluminum alloy design, equipped with display, using QCC5125 program, independent DAC and amplifier chips. The USB DAC function supports up to 96k/24bit which can be upsampling to 192k/24bit via BR13.And it aslo supports for 7 kinds of EQ adjustment and 2 kinds of PEQ.
At the same time, like BTA30PRO, there is a supporting APP to realize more functions.
So if you just want a Bluetooth receiver, you can choose the BR13. But if you need the Bluetooth transmitting as well as receiving function, the BTA30PRO is still the best choice.
12. Is the EQ only supported in Bluetooth and USB input mode?
Yes, EQ is only suppored in Bluetooth and USB input mode.
13. How to connect BR13 to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously?
After turning on the BR13, short press the “IN” button to enter "BLUE IN" mode;
Hold the “IN” button for about 3s to force the device to enter the Bluetooth pairing state and connect BR13 to device 1.
Hold the “IN” button for about 3s to force the BR13 to enter the Bluetooth pairing state again and connect BR13 to device 2.
The BR13 is connected to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously now.
