1.Fiio KA15

KA15 7.jpg

In stock form, the KA15 is neutralish, but of course the PEQ above unlocks whatever tonality you wish for, which increases versatility. Desktop mode seems to provide better separation, imaging and soundstage compared to non desktop mode (even after volume matching), but this comes with more battery drain as a trade off.

I don't hear any hiss even with high sensitivity IEMs, though there is a disappointing pop on inserting or removing transducers from the 3.5 mm port. The 4.4 mm port is better implemented and remains silent when connecting gear. The KA15 has <0.8Ω output impedance (OI) on 3.5 mm, and <1.2Ω OI on the 4.4 mm port, so it synergizes well with fussy low impedance IEMs.

2.FiiO KA15: The Tiny Cassette Player

To wrap things up, I think the FiiO KA15 is a very solid little dongle that really impressed me. The design is fun and practical, especially with the cool cassette tape animation, and it feels well built with that metal body. I also really liked that it came with a leather case, which is a nice extra that some of the other dongles don’t include.

When it comes to sound, the KA15 has a slightly warm yet full sound that I found really enjoyable. It has great technical performance, and the detail and imaging are spot on. I also noticed the background is super quiet, so there’s no unwanted noise getting in the way of the music. It handled everything I threw at it, from IEMs to bigger headphones, without too much trouble. The option to switch between class AB and class H modes is nice too, even if the difference is negligible. And of course the 10 band EQ and Desktop Mode are handy features, letting me tweak the sound and boost power when I needed it.

3.FiiO KA15 Review

Let’s sum it up: for a little more than $100, the FiiO KA15 is one of the best looking dongle DAC/Amp available, at the time of writing, in addition to being one great addition to the brand’s line-up.

It packs an insane level of power – enough for 90% of the users – an infinite-like range of options (even more if you’re an Android user) and, compared to the KA5, it remains an improvement on every aspect – both aesthetically, and sonically.

4.FiiO KA15 Review - “A New, Fun Path in FiiO Family”

KA15 has proven itself to be a very competitive product in this highly saturated dongle market. Its predecessor, the KA5, was my favourite dongle from FiiO in the previous generation, and I am glad to say that KA15 has taken that spot comfortably for me. Also, I am glad to see yet another product that departed from the so-called “FiiO’s house sound”, and I hope this will become a new path for FiiO in the future. I can highly recommend the KA15.

5.FiiO KA15

I’ll start with the power consumption, which is really relatively small, or at least small enough not to make it difficult to use. Another important feature of the FiiO KA15 is the large possibility of customization using the built-in interface. The device itself is interestingly designed and well-made. The FiiO KA15 is practically a complete set offering the necessary accessories in the box, such as a case or a USB C-C cable. In addition, the FiiO KA15 offers a mature and well-thought-out sound. Its tuning is very natural and has been slightly warmed up, offering a natural sound and the right weight of notes. The sound of the FiiO KA15 is neither overly boring, sterile, nor overly colored. All this makes the FiiO KA15 a great opportunity and a very good, and well-thought-out product at the price of 110USD. At the same time, it is worth noting that the FiiO KA15 is not a rival to the FiiO KA17, it is a supplement with a completely different tuning. In the case of the FiiO KA15, it is hard for me to find any real flaws, which is why I am writing it down as a must-have on the dongle list. It is worth noting that a huge plus of the FiiO KA15 tuning is its pleasant and very versatile tuning. This additionally guarantees satisfaction from listening to those who do not aim for exaggerated parameters, but instead focus on clean and natural sound. From the minuses, I can definitely notice that on the cosmetic side, I missed the protective glass on the built-in display. Here I must admit that I personally consider the FiiO KA15 to be an exceptionally interesting old-school design and in my opinion it is beautiful enough to be worth protecting. Fortunately, FiiO did not leave us without support and included a beautiful eco-leather case in the set. It clearly emphasizes how much importance FiiO places not only on details, but also on customer opinions.

6.Fiio KA15's Review - Fiio's Take on Fun!

Having tested several dongles from Fiio, this is the first time I am seeing a dongle with a quirky UI mimicking a cassette tape player. It's something fresh and fun in my opinion, not forgetting the sonic performance itself is very capable as well. Compared to the peers in the same price range, as well as the one that I compared, the R1, to me, Fiio’s KA15 is a more refined product overall in terms of features, as well as sonic performance, and usability as a whole. Highly recommended overall!

7.FIIO KA15

If you’re in the market for around $100USD dongle, the KA15 is my current top recommendation for a dongle around $100USD.

It offers musical and easy to listen tonality, very good technicality, excellent build quality, unique looks, not only that, it has a display for only $109USD.

To get something that’s noticeably better than the KA15 you probably need to spend at least 3x the price of KA15.

8.A perfect “retro styled” portable headphone dac amp

IMG_2842.jpeg

The FiiO KA15 is a fantastic USB DAC/amps. Its combination of excellent build quality, advanced features like Desktop Mode, SPDIF output, and customizable EQ profiles make it a formidable tool for audiophiles on the go. With power levels approaching those of desktop amplifiers, the KA15 offers an ideal blend of portability, useful features and performance that is not only hard to beat but currently almost impossible to beat.

9.FiiO KA15 Review

FiiO’s KA15 is a fantastic product that has replaced one of my go-to dongles for daily use.

It is a feature-packed device with tons of versatility allowing it to synergize exceptionally well with various listening devices and sources.

I also appreciate the outstanding build quality and unique visual flair afforded by the cassette-inspired graphics, which make it more interesting to use than your average dongle DAC.

10.FiiO Ka15 HiFi Dual DAC AMP – Jade Audio Retro Tape Cassette Dongle

A DAC AMP from FiiO under the Jade Audio brand already had an edgy advantage in terms of value, but FiiO KA15 over-delivers on every front, it offers performance that’s exceptional even for a higher price point, but basically at its 109 USD point, it is amazing, sounds better than most Bluetooth-enabled DAC/AMPs, consumes little, has no background noise for IEMs, and has that unique, cutetsy retro look.

11.FiiO KA15 Review

The FiiO KA15 effectively combines retro-inspired design with advanced audio hardware to deliver high-resolution sound in an ultra-compact form that offers a smooth yet detailed presentation, providing a balanced and musical listening experience. Its all-metal construction reduces external interference and enhances durability. Equipped with dual CS43198 DACs, a high-performance USB chip, and dual SGM8262 op-amps, the KA15 supports PCM up to 768kHz/32bit and DSD256 for detailed and accurate audio reproduction. Its desktop mode significantly enhances power output, delivering an impressive 560mW+560mW, making it suitable for driving demanding headphones and IEMs.
